A HELPING HAND FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW

IMG_0216.png

We exist to operate a year-round emergency homeless shelter providing a safe, welcoming environment while partnering with community services to encourage self-sufficiency.

We strive to be a leading partner in Lenawee County ensuring that no individual or family ever has to spend the night outdoors because they cannot find safe shelter. We intend to be that beacon of hope for the homeless that provides a compassionate environment as our guests take the path forward.

Helen’s Dream

It was the vision of Lenawee County supporter, Helen Hendricks, to have a place that would support and help the homeless population of the county. In 2010 Helen set out to make this county better to all of the residents, regardless of social, economical, or financial status. Helen worked to establish Share the Warmth and opened beds in St. Mary’s and St. Joe’s churches. Total the churches held approximately 30 beds and were available at night and only during the coldest months of the year. Helen made Share the Warmth work on the donations and graciousness of the Lenawee County residents. Fast forward 13 years and here we are in a bigger building, open 24/7/365, serving more than double of the guests and with full-time staff working around the clock to help our guests with case plans. It was Helen’s vision to make this county a better place for everyone, but it is with the continued donations of time and money that allows us to continue with that dream.
